"It’s not exactly that I have a revulsion to AI-assisted content or don’t want to get fooled by it. It’s that something is happening where my brain has become the AI police because everything feels incredibly uncanny. I will be going about my day reading, watching, or listening to something and, suddenly, I notice that something is wildly off. Quite simply, I feel like I’m going nuts."
This reminds me of how I felt when reading a TechCrunch article the other day[1] - simply consuming news from what seems to be a 'reputable' source is now an exercise in metacognition.
I've recently pulled way back on the amount I read online. It just feels icky, and I'm much more comfortable reading a pre-2022 book which I know was written the old fashioned way. Even supposedly pre-2022 online content is suspect unless I personally archived it, though there are some sites I still trust not to play shenanigans with their back catalog.

This puts into words the very strong feelings I’ve had about AI. I’ll add that I can’t stand being in the room while family
is watching AI-generated YouTube videos. I don’t know how they can’t see it.
They act like I’m insane for thinking these are AI, or maybe insane for caring.
I want to go to a commune where we all live like it’s 2019.

I thought I was miserable during the Covid years, but now I’ve started to wax poetic about working from home, not having any obligations, and regularly baking bread with my partner.
